8 Deep

January 11, 2014 Andrio Abero

Lightly dusted.

Such a great ride up Alpine to Saratoga Gap and back. We had a really solid crew this morning. The strongest I've ridden with in a long time. They really kept me on my toes. We rode 32 miles with over 6,000' of climbing in little over three hours. The weather called for rain, but it ended up being pretty ideal.

I rode my trail bike for extra training. My Epic would have been more ideal, but I have so much more fun on this bad boy, aka 'Baby'. As long as I didn't stand up to mash and kept my pedalling smooth and consistent I was able to hang with the front. Only after 20 miles or so did my legs start to feel it. I was on the verge of massive cramping, but managed to spin it out towards the end. I let it rip on the Alpine descent, snagging a top 10. Even my friends have noticed my downhill skills improving.
